We all look forward to summertime. Picnics, swimming holes, barbecues and mountain vistas beckon to be enjoyed and explored during our precious summer vacations. But, whether it’s a three-day or three-week vacation, the tendency is to pack a lot of activities into a small time frame — a surefire prescription for excess and imbalance. This can be prevented holistically by including some energy therapy practices into a daily or weekly health maintenance routine before the summer months begin so that we remain healthy, centered and able to enjoy all that this time of the year brings.
Now is the time to start a daily routine that can promote wellness throughout the summer season and longer. Paying attention to the amount of regular exercise and undisturbed sleep you’re getting, the kinds of food you’re eating, and, last but not least, the amount of time you’re taking for yourself—the pampering kind of time, are the key ingredients to a holistic routine. Take time for a daily walk in the park or to the water. Listen to birdsong at daybreak, meditate, or simply sit quietly on a bench with your eyes closed while taking slow deep breaths of fresh air for ten to fifteen minutes a few times a day. Any of these practices, if allowed to become habitual, will lessen the chances of emergency sessions to balance unforeseen problems that take you away from family functions and favorite fishing holes.
In addition to a daily routine, a regular energy therapy session is also extremely beneficial and can be a mini-vacation in and of itself. One of the intrinsic values of energy medicine is that the ECM, the extracellular matrix in the human body, indicates imbalance vibrationally before there are actually any physical symptoms. These variations in the body’s electrical currents, that can be measured with an MRI, EMR scanning and electrography, can be positively influenced with energy therapy techniques to correct imbalances before they become chronic or acute. A daily routine and regular visits to your energy therapist feeds the ECM with positive vibrations, sending healing messages to the brain that responds by lowering the heart rate, cleansing the blood, eliminating toxins and wastes, and calming the mind.
But, can energy therapy be beneficial when we do overdo it and need relief? Of course! Along with the standard allopathic remedies for all sorts of summer maladies, energy therapy can greatly alleviate imbalances due to summer colds, rashes, insect bites, sprains, sunburn as well as summertime stress, sluggishness and over stimulation. Healing Touch (HT) and Reiki are effective for all summertime ailments and can reduce pain and inflammation from topical injuries quite significantly, especially if applied immediately to the burn, bite or sting. RoHun Therapy and Shiatsu can greatly accelerate the detoxifying process and are invaluable in finding relief for the emotional pressures, anxiety and stresses that can sometimes accompany summer vacations.
Wellness is the key here. Energy therapists are dedicated to helping you heal yourself, aligning your body to its inherent template of wellness — no matter what physical, emotional, or mental ailment you might be currently experiencing. Just as an exercise or diet regimen needs to be followed for at least a few months to see results, scheduling regular visits to your energy therapist will produce the optimal, long-term transformations in the body needed to balance and sustain physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness. It takes seven years for the body to completely renew its blood supply. Seven-year cycles are good barometers to go by when following any holistic practice, marking changes and levels of health reached or desired and spurring one on to greater levels of wholeness. And, considering that the average lifespan for humans is 78 years, making a commitment to this even in one’s sixties, can provide many trouble free, independent years to look forward to. As you learn to listen and be in partnership with your body’s innate healing ability … listen to its warning signals and take responsibility for your health and well being, maintenance becomes almost second nature, even during hectic summer vacations. Have a safe, healthy summer!
